The research-based, Too Good Programs- Too Good For Drugs and Too Good For Violence,
offer a comprehensive solution to drug and violence prevention needs for grades K-12.
The programs work together using age-appropriate curricula to enhance and expand
the skills, knowledge and attitudes that promote safe and drug-free living.

The Mendez Foundation has focused its efforts on prevention education throughout the
country since 1978 and is at the forefront of the prevention field. These programs have
been designated Model Programs by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services
Administration (SAMHSA) which means they demonstrate consistently positive results,
are innovative and effective, respond to the needs of the target population and are
implemented under scientifically-rigorous conditions.

Herkimer County Prevention Council (HCPC) uses the
Too Good For Drugs Program at
the Kindergarten, first and second grade levels in several local elementary schools.  
Too Good For Violence is used at the fourth and fifth grade levels in the same schools.
 Too Good For Drugs for grades K-8, 10 lessons.  
     Promotes skills in:
 Goal Setting
 Decision Making
 Bonding with pro-social others
 Identifying and managing emotions
 Communicating effectively
Too Good For Violence for grades K-5, 7 lessons; for grades 6-8, 9 lessons  
    Uses a CAREing approach to violence prevention:
Conflict resolution
Anger management
Respect for self and others
Effective communication
